The 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Vietnamese - Cambodian Border Provinces was held in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia on November 28.
According to the Conference's press release, within the framework of the Conference, Mr. Bui Thanh Son - Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam paid courtesy calls to Samdech Techo Hun Sen - President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Samdech Thibadei Hun Manet - Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The conference took place in a close, cordial, and mutually understanding atmosphere with the theme "Peace, stability, and sustainable development of border provinces".
The two sides frankly exchanged views and expressed their determination to preserve and develop the relationship and cooperation between the Vietnamese - Cambodian border provinces according to the motto "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", and at the same time, continue to build and maintain the protection of the Vietnamese - Cambodian border into a border line of peace, friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development.
The two sides also noted the good relationship and cooperation between the authorities and functional forces of the Vietnamese - Cambodian border provinces in recent times, which has continued to maintain and protect security, order, and stability along the border areas of the two countries, while promoting socio-economic development and improving the quality of life of the people in the border areas.
The Conference emphasized in strengthening cooperation between Vietnamese-Cambodian border provinces in many important areas including: National defense, security, public order and social safety, cross-border trade, investment and border gate management, cross-border transport, infrastructure development and connectivity, land border demarcation and marker planting, agriculture, health, energy, environment and water resources, tourism, information, law and justice, banking, local administrative management, as well as cultural exchange and people-to-people exchanges, etc.
The Conference was also attended by a delegation from Dong Thap province, led by Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and members representing leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 27, at the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son held a plenary working session with delegates from central ministries, agencies, and provinces sharing a border and having economic trade with Cambodia, including Dong Thap province.
At the conference, Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee had a quick exchange with the Conference on the socio-economic situation of the province after the merger, thereby expressing the desire for the Government to pay attention and create conditions for infrastructure investment at border gates to strengthen exchange and trade between localities of the two countries.
