In the new context, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong requested the Dong Thap Provincial Public Security to focus on building a People’s Public Security force that is truly clean, strong, regular, elite, and modern, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation; to develop a contingent of officers and soldiers with firm political bravery, pure moral qualities, and professional competence; to promote the core role, firmly grasp the situation, safeguard political security, and avoid passivity or surprise, especially in strategic areas; to strengthen the deployment of forces at grassroots levels, improve the quality and skills of analysis and forecasting, and proactively formulate plans for handling situations.

At the same time, to comprehensively renovate the work of the Public Security forces under the motto: “The People’s Public Security shall set an exemplary model, take the lead in implementing the Party’s guidelines, thereby contributing together with the whole country to firmly advance into a new era”; to accelerate digital transformation, effectively implement Project 06, proactively apply science and technology to crime prevention and combat activities; to continue consolidating and improving the quality of the movement “All People Protect National Security”; to perform well the mass mobilization work, and to build the image of the People’s Public Security officers as “close to the people, understanding the people, respecting the people, and devotedly serving the people”, etc. – requested Comrade Le Quoc Phong .

At the Ceremony, Major General Lam Phuoc Nguyen – Director of the Provincial Public Security—recalled the 80-year tradition of the People’s Public Security of Viet Nam (19th August 1945–19th August 2025) and the 20-year tradition of the All-People’s Day for National Security Protection (19th August 2005–19th August 2025).

Eighty years ago, on 19th August 1945, under the leadership of the Party and the great President Hồ Chí Minh, the General Uprising triumphed in Hà Nội and then quickly spread nationwide, overthrowing the rule of colonialists and feudalists and bringing power into the hands of the people. Together with the establishment of the revolutionary government throughout the country, the first organizations of the People’s Public Security were formed in all three regions: the Department of Integrity in the north, the Department of Reconnaissance in the Central region, the National Self-Defense Force in the South. 19th August 1945 was thereby designated as the Traditional Day of the People’s Public Security of Viet Nam.

Together with the establishment of the revolutionary government and the People’s Public Security forces nationwide, on 25th August 1945, the National Self-Defense Forces in Sa Đec, My Tho, and Go Công were formed – the predecessors of today’s Dong Thap Provincial Public Security. Over the past 80 years, Dong Thap Public Security has joined with the Provincial Party Committee and the people of the province in overcoming difficulties and challenges in different revolutionary periods, maintaining political stability, ensuring social order and safety, and creating favorable conditions to serve the renovation and socio-economic development of the province.
