Dong Thap - Yokohama strengthens cooperation in drainage sector

At noon on October 23, the delegation from Yokohama City (Japan), led by Mr. Kozuka Ryoichi - Executive Director of the River and Drainage Area Management Bureau, visited and paid a courtesy call to the leaders of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of relevant departments and agencies, received the delegation.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation; at the same time, he stated that in recent times, Dong Thap has had many effective cooperation activities with Japanese partners in various fields. Specifically with the Yokohama River and Drainage Area Management Bureau, the two sides have implemented some technical cooperation contents in urban drainage sector.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared that the province currently has 20 wards with high population density, and the need to invest in drainage and wastewater treatment systems is becoming increasingly urgent. Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu hopes that, with Yokohama's extensive experience, the delegation will advise the province on more solutions in this field and promote cooperation in many other fields, especially urban space management and urban architecture. In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the delegation will introduce investors and businesses to learn about and invest in Dong Thap.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Kozuka Ryoichi thanked the provincial leaders for their thoughtful reception and highly appreciated Dong Thap's efforts in urban infrastructure management and development; at the same time, he hoped that the province would continue to pay attention to directing and creating conditions for cooperation activities in the coming time to be implemented synchronously and more effectively.

Mr. Kozuka Ryoichi said that tomorrow (October 24), the delegation will conduct a field survey in Sa Dec ward to grasp the reality and propose solutions appropriate to the province's reality related to drainage management and wastewater treatment.
