Many Japanese aid projects have effectively implemented in Dong Thap province

On the morning of October 9, a delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Ms. Mori Ayako - Assistant Head of the NGOs Cooperation Promotion Division, International Cooperation Bureau, paid a courtesy visit to the Leaders of Dong Thap province.

This was part of their trip to survey the effectiveness of non-refundable aid projects from the Japanese Government for Japanese non-profit organizations in Dong Thap province. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of several provincial Departments and agencies received the delegation.

In addition to thanking the thoughtful reception from the Leaders of Dong Thap province, the delegation expressed their impression of the unique characteristics of the riverine region and local specialty products. At the same time, the delegation also provided information about the project effectiveness survey trip.

Accordingly, the project "Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in Hoa Binh, Phu Cuong, Phu Ninh, and Phu Thanh B communes - Tam Nong district" was funded by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Save the Children International, with an aid value of approximately VND5 billions. The project was implemented from 2017 - 2019, contributing to strengthening the capacity to respond to natural disasters and climate change for communities and schools in the project communes.

In addition, from 2020 until now, Dong Thap province has approved and implemented 03 projects and non-project Japanese non-governmental aid, with a total committed capital of nearly US$621,000. These projects mainly focus on organic agriculture, educational support, and community awareness raising.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu thanked the support of the Japanese Government, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japanese Embassy, the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and Japanese investors and partners for their attention and support to Dong Thap province over the past years.

At the same time, he expressed his wish that in the coming time, the province would continue to receive attention and expanded support in the fields of economy, healthcare, management, and digital transformation. The Provincial People's Committee committed to creating all favorable conditions for project implementation, arranging management staff, and selecting beneficiaries in accordance with regulations.
