Provincial leaders attend opening ceremony at Khmer – Viet Nam Friendship Primary School

On November 03, the Delegation of Dong Thap province led by Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with Mr. Phan Van Thuong – Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Commission and other members, attended the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2025 – 2026 at the Khmer – Viet Nam Friendship Primary School in Prey Veng province, Kingdom of Cambodia – a locality bordering Dong Thap province.

Also attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Viet Nam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Ms. Seng Tieng – Deputy Governor of Prey Veng province, and Leaders of the Khmer – Viet Nam Association in Cambodia.

In the academic year 2025 – 2026, the Khmer – Viet Nam Friendship Primary School in Prey Veng province has over 200 students, most of whom are children of Vietnamese origin who receive free education in both Vietnamese and Khmer. This school was built with support from Dong Thap province.

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, congratulated the teachers and students on starting the new academic year in a joyful atmosphere. Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan likened the school to a "bridge of knowledge" connecting the two nations; at the same time, he hoped that the teachers would continue to nurture their passion for the profession so that students can study well and contribute to strengthening the Viet Nam - Cambodia friendship.

On the occasion of the new academic year, provincial leaders and Dong Thap businesses presented their gifts and scholarships to encourage the school and students.

The Prey Veng provincial branch of the Khmer – Viet Nam Association in Cambodia currently has had 09 school sites, with 15 teachers and about 550 students, teaching according to the Cambodian Ministry of Education's curriculum from grade 01 to grade 05, contributing to literacy for overseas Vietnamese children in difficult circumstances.
